Eli's 4th Birthday

Eli's fourth birthday was on July 20th.  He is such a fun-loving kid, and generally pretty happy. He was so excited that it was finally his turn for a birthday, especially after just having Micah's!  It couldn't come fast enough. Eli's birthday started out with Dad making his shaped pancakes.  There were E's, L's, I's, and 4's, chocolate chips, fruit, and cool whip. Eli was ecstatic!
A few days prior, I was showing Eli a couple of different cakes online and saw this rocket cake.   I asked him if he like that one, and he said, "Yeah, but we need to change those letters to say E-L-I" (the original cake said USA).  It was cute of him to realize that there were 3 letters and just enough spaces for his name.  I think it turned out so good!  I was pretty proud of this one.
We had a barbecue for dinner and invited Grandma and Grandpa down to join us.

One of the kids noticed this Monarch landing on one of our sunflowers.  I was able to capture a few pictures of it before it flew off.

This picture just makes me laugh. :)  What a face!
Present time!  Eli got a new bucket to dig outside in the sand, a squishy yo-yo like Micah got, and flash cards.
Ms. Durrant gave him bubbles, among other things!

He got showered with confetti from Great Grandma Millett.  He knew it was in there and purposely opened his card so the confetti would go everywhere. lol  Grandma has a reputation now!
Grandma and Grandpa Millett also sent him a card with money in it.

That will make a boy happy!
Eli got some new books to read.  He loves to be read to!
The only things he asked for were a new notebook and some art supplies. He's an easy one to please!

He got the entire series of the old Scooby Doo Cartoons.
Morgan made him a card and gave him a dollar. :) She was also the one who covered the piano bench with a blanket for him to sit on.
Morgan also made him a book about Dinosaurs.  She is so creative and thoughtful!
Grandma and Grandpa Hughes got him a new Lego set to build, a box of crayons and a new coloring book.
Eli with his rocket cake. He liked how it turned out!
This picture cracks me up--his cake looks like it is on fire, but only four little candles are lit.
Make a wish!
Eli clapped as the cake was leaving to be cut up and paired with ice cream.  I think he had a great day. :)  Can't beat that.  Happy birthday, Eli!  We sure do love you!
