Father's Day

We had a fun Father's Day this year. I think I surprised John with several gifts (not an easy task if you know my husband at all). I always make John something for his birthday, father's day, Christmas, etc. (he's probally sick of homemade gifts, but always says he loves them! :) Thanks for humoring me, hon!) This year we went with something a little different. I've been attending a stitching bee that my friend has put together. (Each month she has a new pattern for us to embroider). For Father's day, we embroidered on a white shirt, and made this cute little wall hanging we framed. It was fun to do, and I think John liked this different little twist to the "crafts" he usually gets from me. LOL

I also got him a new camp chair. I bought him one last year, and he would never sit in it because mine was also in need of replacing. He didn't want me to hit the dirt when it broke, so he always insisted I sit in his new chair. Now he has no excuses. :)

I helped the kids make him an "en-TIE-cing" coupon book. They all agreed to do the chores that were specific for them (mow the lawn, take out the trash, rub Dad's back, a day of remote control reign, etc.) . It was fun, and they kids enjoyed coming up with their own things to do with/for dad.

I think his favorite gift was his blog books I had printed. My sister, Nichole, tipped me off on this site to have your blog printed (blog2print.com). It was super easy, I decided that he would LOVE it and, despite the cost, decided to have it printed up. I did his first two years of his blog (2008 & 2009), each in their own book. I didn't think they would make it here on time, and one didn't, but at least he had one to open and spent the rest of the day pouring over his entries. The other book came on Monday. It's pretty cool to see his blog all printed up in hardcopy. What was even better was that I was able to include all of the comments everyone made with his posts. Makes it kind of fun! I think he'll probally get his blog printed every year from now on (maybe I will too!) It's a great keepsake, and journal.

It was a great day, and we had fun celebrating the Dad in our home! Happy Father's Day, John!
