2nd grade program "Hats"

Micah had Mrs. Atwood this year for 2nd grade.  She kind of had a special bond with him because they were both the newbies in class.  It was her first year teaching, and we just moved into the area.

Their program this year was entitled "Hats!"  They did an excellent job showing us the different hats they could or do wear.  I loved it!

Micah got to wear the beanie and be a burgler in the program. He was so cute sneaking across the stage and then running from the police officer!

Micah drew a picture of our family.  I think they drew pictures of things they love. It turned out great!

Great job Micah-bug!  We sure love you!

First, Second, and Third Grade Spell-Off!

This year the lower grade teachers (1st-3rd) decided to have their own spelling bee since they don't participate in the district spelling bee.

Each teacher had their own classroom spelling bee and then the top 3 from each class went on to the lower grade Spell-off.  Micah was one of the top 3 for 2nd grade. 

As Principal, John was one of the judges for the spell-off.

Micah was nervous, but he did so well!

These 3 girls were the last 3 left--two first graders and a third grader.  Lauren Mills (in the center) won the spell off.

All the kids did so well!  Congratulations for making it!

Micah's Secret Elf Stocking

Micah's 2nd grade class had secret elves this year. They each had a name of someone in class, and had to bring things for thier friend as a secret elf.  The kids really got into it!  They each made a stocking to hold their treasures.  Their class also had an Elf on the Shelf that would bring them little treats that would also go into their stockings.  So much fun!  Thanks, Mrs. Atwood.  The kids all loved it!  December 2014

1st Day of School

Beginning a new school year in a new place is kind of scary!  These kids were excited anyway.

Zander is going into 4th grade.  His teacher will be Mrs. Alton.

He found this shirt when we were shopping for school clothes and fell in love with it.  It's no wonder that he is our child with a huge sweet tooth!  He'd eat candy for every meal if we'd let him. :)  He was also very excited to find a BYU backpack.  Grandma Hughes has rubbed off on him a little!

Morgan is excited to be going into 6th grade and has her daddy for her teacher, Mr. Hughes.

John is also beginning in a new classroom this year.  He will be the 6th grade teacher at Cottonwood Elementary in Orangeville.

Micah is going into the 2nd grade.  His teacher is Mrs. Atwood.  (It's her first year as a teacher!)

Ian is going into the 9th grade.  He will be going to San Rafael Jr. High in Ferron.  We are excited that he will get one year in Jr. High before going to the high school over here.

August 18th, 2014.

Eli began Kindergarten the next week on August 24th.  He was kind of bummed he didn't get to go to school with Dad on their first day, but was so excited to be one of the big kids that went to school.

Skate Park

The kids had been wanting to try out the skate park in Orangeville since we moved.  For family home evening we took the boys and went.  Ian was at Scout camp, and Morgan was still with Aunt Paula, so it was just the little ones.  The boys were a bunch of chickens and wouldn't do much--not that I blame them! I wouldn't have either. LOL

They did manage to have a pretty good time anyways.

Eli was the most brave of all the boys.  He is a little dare devil!

Micah's Bike

Micah was promised a bike from Grandma and Grandpa Hughes for his birthday the beginning of July.  Because we were in Vegas on his birthday, and with the move shortly thereafter, they waited to get it until we were living in Orangeville.  The day after we moved in, Grandma and Grandpa took Micah to Price to pick out his bike and helmet. Micah didn't know how to ride a two-wheeler yet, but Grandma told him she wouldn't buy him one with training wheels.  He felt a little anxious about it, but it sure didn't take him long to figure out how it worked!

Eli asked if he could have his picture taken on his bike as well. :)

We sure love living in the cul-de-sac so the kids can ride their bikes without us worrying too much. Now we just need to train all our retired neighbors to watch out for the kids! lol :)
