Pioneer Day

Happy Pioneer Day!  Our ward always hosts a barbecue at the park.  Anyone in the community is welcome to attend.  There is always good food and company.

This year the primary had several games for the kids to play.  They set up a fishing pond.

They also asked the fire department to bring the hoses down and set up a slip and slide.  It was the highlight of the day!  That is a lot of water!

John brought his sling shot so the kids could launch water balloons.

After a bit, the kids launching the balloons wanted to see if they could hit the slip and sliders across the field.  They came close a few times!

Those manning the hose tried to get us, but we were too far away.  (They eventually got in the firetruck and drove it around to us to try and get us wet that way.  It was so funny!)

The kids loved launching the balloons!  Even Lindey was able to give it a try.

Everyone had a great time celebrating the 24th of July--Pioneer Day!

4th of July

Happy Independance Day! :)  For the second or third year in a row, we made waffles for breakfast with blueberries, strawberries and cool whip.  Yummy!

For dinner we had a barbeque.  We wanted to do something fun for the kids, so we made Red, White and Blue drinks.  They turned out pretty cool, and we amazed the kids which was the best part!

We also made a kickball croquet game.  The kids had fun with it.

After we took most of the hoops out of the lawn from the croquet game, it turned into soccor.

We had yummy brownies and Morgan decorated Sugar Cookies!  

She did a pretty great job!  Thanks, sis! :)

When it got dark, we headed to the Gun Range for Fireworks.

The kids enjoyed throwing poppers from Grandma and watching the fireworks being set off all around us.

We gave the kids glowsticks, and John's mom gave them Red, White and Blue flashing rings.

We were parked by the Brady family.  Our boys were all over helping them light fireworks.  Little pyros! :)

A family near us even shared their sparklers.

After the fireworks, we headed home.  Eli didn't even make it to his bed before falling asleep. :)

What a fun day we had!  Happy 4th of July!

What's a Ball Game Without a Hot Dog?

Ian had a Saturday night Little League game this week.  We were joking about doing a hot dog roast at the game on Thursday, but no plans were set in stone.  This afternoon we got a phone call from the Pettits asking if we were really going to do it.  We decided that we would and plans were made.  Pettits brought the grill, buns, and chips, we brought the hot dogs and relish tray, Melinda brought drinks and chips, Brady's brought Hot Dogs and chips, and we were all set.  At the last minute I decided to make sheet cake brownies for dessert. 

 Some of the parents of the kids on the other team were calling us the "Rowdy Bunch", which was kind of funny.  We always sit together and let the kids play on the grass behind the outfield. We can be pretty loud if we are cheering.  There are plenty of us!
 We were a ways away tonight, but with the sponser circles on the fence, it makes it hard to be closer and see all that you want to see without a blind spot.

 With only one week left of Little League, we decided that the grill will be back this week for the final game.  I've really enjoyed visiting with friends and watching Ian play this year.

Ian's team lost this game because of silly mistakes and overthrows, etc., but we had a great time.  Ian got several hits and even made a run for his team. Way to go buddy, and better luck next time boys!
