August 8th we were invited to go over to Orangeville and watch the Castle Valley Pageant. Suzy's husband and children are in it. Our kids earned a swimming trip to the Emery County Aquatic center in Castle Dale by doing their chores this summer, so we decided to make a day of it. Lindey was loving that she could walk down into the water without help from Mom and Dad.
Ian had a lot of fun with his cousin, Samantha that joined us at the pool. (Love that you can see Micah being a little fish in the background in all three pictures. He really took to the water this summer!)
After spending the afternoon at Suzy's house, we went up the mountain to the pageant. We went early enough that the kids could do all the pioneer village things they have set up before the show. We took a wagon ride...
Ian and Rad took no time setting right up top with the driver. We explored the teepee...
Swept out the pioneer houses (and peeked out the windows)....
even Lindey got in on that action...
the boys were so excited to climb on the roof of the dugout...
We tried some dutch oven potato soup...
watched the blacksmith work...
tried out some pioneer puzzle games...tried some honey candy...
and ate fresh bread and honeybutter...yum!...
Morgan and Zander tried thier hand at milking a cow...
waved at Mom and Dad from on top of another house...
had some homemade ice cream...
and made our own ropes.Whew! It was so fun to watch the kids explore the village.
Ian let the ladies put a pioneer rag curler in his hair. Silly kid. :)
Morgan, Micah and Zander even got in a burro ride at the last minute.
It was such a fun day, and the kids were all tuckered out and slept the whole way home. A few even fell asleep before the pageant was over--that was fun to get them down the mountain! lol :) Thanks for inviting us, it was so good to see you and your family, Suzy!
