Lagoon!

This year for John's family reunion, we all went to Lagoon. It was so much fun! Here is our little family at the entrance. We got there early enough that we were able to go in right as the gates opened!
The first ride we went on was the flying aces. Suzy says it is a family tradition. I think that next time we'll be changing that little tradition or Suzy will be on her own since nearly all the adults had motion sickness afterwards! LOL
John, Suzy and Wayne on The Rocket. I did this ride many years ago when we went with Dustin, Ashley and Jennie, and opted out this time around. Not my favorite. John was a brave toaster and went twice with Suzy!
Ian was one of the 3 big boys, so we let them pal around together and ride what they wanted so that they weren't stuck at the kiddie rides with us. It worked out rather well, except that we didn't get many pictures of Ian throughout the day. They checked in periodically and from the sound of things, had a great time. Here I am with Micah, Zander and Morgan at the OdySea.
After riding once, "The Octopus" as Micah called it, quickly became his favorite ride. (I think I went on it 10-15 times with him!) It has Dolphins, Sharks and Whales that spray water at different intervals. You control the fish you are in to go up or down. Micah got really, REALLY good at placing our fish so that I'd get wet. He would just laugh and laugh. He'd say, "I'm going to get you wet Mom!" and then after he positioned our fish and I got sprayed in the head or arm, or got both of us wet, he'd say, "Ha Ha! I got you wet Mom!" and just giggle. It was great! Plus, I got to cool down!
John and I loved that they made a lot of the big rides into kid-size rides. This is a ladybug version of the Rocket, blast off. The kids really liked it.

Then, there was the Dinosaur Drop version of the Rocket, re-entry. I got this priceless picture of Micah's first drop on it. He is scared to death! John was laughing so hard!
It pops you back up a ways and then drops you again a few times. By the end of the ride Micah figured out it wasn't so bad and was laughing.
Two of my handsome guys.
Morgan and Britney riding in a car together by the cottage, through the pretty flowers. I had to laugh because as I went to take their picture the first time around, they both leaned over to see if they could see inside the windows of the cottage.
Zander in the boats. Micah climbed in next to him and before the ride was over they were punching, scratching, pinching and biting each other. They put on a pretty good show--everyone was laughing at them. They both wanted to ring the bell and weren't taking turns too well. With a threat of no more rides, they whipped right into shape and we didn't have that problem again the rest of the day! I don't know what I'm going to do with those two boys. They can't even sit next to each other at the table without getting into it. Good thing Zander goes to school this year! Maybe a little distance will help.
Morgan was so funny. We decided to put Eli into the boat with her. She got her Dad's worry gene! She kept asking me if he'd be okay, and will he fall out, and what if he tries to stand up. I had to tell her that he would be buckled with her, and just to keep her arm around him. Let him turn the steering wheel and ring the bell, and he'd be fine. She was so cute, and Eli loved it!
John and I took the kids on the Tidal Wave. Micah did NOT like this ride. They put us in the center of the boat because of the little kids we had (Cora and Clint had Britney and Brooklyn as well). It still went too high for his liking. I don't think he liked the butterflies in his belly. The operator had us yelling Spongebob! and when the other side got up in the air Squarepants! Zander got a kick out of that.
I let Micah crawl around on the rocks by the Spider while we were waiting for everyone to go on that ride. He thought that was pretty cool.
He got bored after a little while and started making me a collection of rocks, sticks, and leaves.
I was so worried about Eli being bored and screaming the day away from being stuck in the stroller. He did rather well. I was so impressed!
Of course, every chance I got, I let him down to run around. I think that is what saved him! That and the snacks we packed. :)
John and I were okay with letting the kids go on Rattlesnake Rapids with the family, but weren't wanting to get wet ourselves. We stayed at the overlook and squirted everyone with water before they went under the waterfall and got drenched! Micah was with us the first time the family came by, and then turned to me and said, "I want to go on the boat!" When everyone decided to go again...and again...and again, we let him go. The boys all went together in one boat. I LOVE Ian's face as he see's the waterfall drawing closer! LOL Zander is hiding and Micah is trying to take cover under his hands--didn't matter, everyone was soaked!
The girls and Uncle Jay went in the next boat.
John and I at the overlook in front of the waterfall. :)
Our soaking wet kids after 4 or 5 runs on the rapids.
Before we left for the evening, we let the kids play "Lucky Ducks!" We like to let them do this one, because everyone wins something. They really liked that part. We now have a Frogit (Micah played again and won a frog, generously giving his Duck to Eli) a Water Frog (Zander's), and a Ducky (Morgan's) living at our home.
John and I took Zander on the Wicked. (HOLY CRAP!) You shoot out of the station around the corner and straight up (not joking--straight up!) and then go over the hill and fall straight back down. John was worried about his glasses flying off and as the ride starts moving John says, "Put these in your shirt...Hurry, it's going to shoot us!" I did, and on the way over the top of the hill before falling back down, I see his glasses come out of my shirt, float in front of my face and land on my lap bar by my hand. It was one of those slow motion, I can't believe that just happened! sort of moments. I quickly grabbed onto them and held them for the remainder of the ride--praying for thanks that they didn't get lost leaving my husband blind! LOL That was a crazy ride! Zander had to sit in a booster, but thought it was "So Awesome!" Cora and Clint had Britney with them also, and since the 5 year olds did so well, we went straight over to the Fire Dragon (AKA The Colossus) to ride. John did not let me hold his glasses this time. :) LOL It was fun to ride a few rides with my husband! The kids did great on that one too! All in all, I think it was a great day, everyone had a blast, and we left the park exhausted. A successful Hughes reunion! :)
