It's Update Time...

Well, we finished putting the Living Room back together in the wee morning hours Friday night, or I guess that would be Saturday. It looks really good! Now I really want to get painting the other rooms in our house...I think the Kitchen will be my next project. Maybe next week when John is gone again. (He has CORE Academy and it's the last week of Master's Classes for the summer--YEA!!) I really like the way it looks, even if we don't have curtains up yet. Having nothing is better than the pre-fabbed ones that came with the house! :) What did you call them Mom, Camo-gone-wrong? :) Now the only ugly curtains left are in my bathroom and the kitchen. Hopefully they won't be around much longer either.

Now, can I get a drumroll please....

The kid's bathroom is finally finished! :)

After I put on the second sponged paint layer that you've already seen in an earlier post, I painted my bathroom cupboard and added knobs.

We hung both of my antique windows and the window box on my birthday (thanks honey) and I was just waiting to get the flowers to go in it. When we went over to Grand Junction to pick up some things from my sister who is moving too far away, (Miss you already, Nichole) we stopped at Hobby Lobby and picked out my flowers. I was so excited to find that they were having a floral sale and I got all my flowers at 50% off!! I was able to get what I wanted without breaking the bank. Always a good thing. After I put the flowers in the window box,

and the pictures in the other window, something was missing. I added ribbon to the handle of the window, but it still needed something else. I decided I wanted to add butterflies to the walls/windows, and I knew I needed to make them look like the ones on the shower curtain.

I looked through my great big book of everything (all my stamps, die cuts, punches etc. are housed here so that I know what I have--a real time/money saver!)and was so excited to find that I had the perfect die cut! I wanted the butterflies to be 3-dimensional on the wall and also sturdy, so I first cut them out of chipboard, and then also out of yellow scrapbook paper that matched the butterflies on the curtain. I painted the chipboard white, and then watered my paint down to paint the scrapbook paper to match the curtain butterflies. Once dry, I adheared the paper to the chipboard with mod podge, and then mod podged the entire butterfly so that it would be waterproof. I didn't want them falling apart the first time someone took a shower in there! I folded the wings up to give them that 3-D effect. My die cut butterflies didn't have antenna, and the curtain ones did, so I just happened to have some yellow craft wire that I knew would be perfect. I wrapped the wire around the bodies to match the stitching on the curtain, and then curled the ends to make the antenna. I think they turned out pretty close! I'm so happy with them! :) They added just the right finishing touch. I LOVE LOVE LOVE how my bathroom turned out!
Ian is not so excited that I "girlied" up his bathroom. LOL He was absolutely mortified that I put a picture of him watering Great Grandma Willard's flowers in his diaper! He told me that Jake (One of his friends) was no longer allowed to use that bathroom because he would see that picture. I told Ian that Jake wouldn't know it was him. He has 3 blonde brothers, and it could be any one of them. This seemed to apease him for the moment. LOL Gotta love kids!
I'm so glad that I finished this project, now...on to the next! :)
